|Overall, we had a good week ending Saturday May 12th thanks to all of you! This time of year with all the outside activities there is normally a drop in the numbers of singers. So this is a great time to enjoy more performance opportunities; so get a plan put together which will enable you to enhance not only the size of your repertoire but your quality in vocalization. Look at ways to improve your stage presence, use of the mic, practice duets. Remember that old expression "by iron, iron itself is sharpened"! That is, listen, watch and learn with appreciation from the ones who are particularly good at some feature in which you wish to improve. Did you know that most times we are flat or sharp in pitch, that this is your brain trying to harmonize. If you don't believe that and know how to harmonize quietly sing the lead and it will show you of which I speak! For those of you who would like to harmonize this shows that your brain is ready even if you think you cannot do it.
So last Tuesday night at the Water Tank Guy Paul got to award the $175.00 bar/food tab which means that we start again with a $25.00 tab to the song slip drawn last Tuesday provided the person who sung that song is present to receive it! If not, it will be worth $50.00 the next week! Daryl was the winner! Congratulations, Daryl, you won the largest tab ever presented at the Tank!
Wednesday last at the Canary Nest was a great show, still small in attendance. Hope to see you there this week!
This Wednesday at 9:00 PM-1:00 AM Guy Paul will open our newest show at "Water Tank, Too" in Pflugerville located at 15821 Central Commerce Dr. 78660. You can go to www.austinwatertank.com for more info. The phone number is a "dummy" to be filled in later and the map is not accurate but the rest is pretty well correct-except that I have over 10,000 songs and have been at the original "Tank" for 13 years next month. We will start at 9 PM at first but will probably start later during the summer. Give Guy a "kick start" for his first show!
Last Thursday was great at the "Canary Roost"! We had an early crowd of singers who wanted to sing a lot! I love it! Keep it up! Thanks.
Friday at the "Water Tank" was good as was Saturday there as well! We still miss having all the depth of variety which seems less frequent now. One way to get more out of a show is to listen more to each singer and genuinely applaud for all singers but really show contagious enthusiasm for an outstanding performance. Got a great example of that enthusiastic applause for one singer twice last Saturday! Certainly it is normal to talk to your friends at a club but how much do you miss, if that is the majority of what you do all night? Try to keep in mind that it is "our" show made up of all kinds of entertaining tidbits! I just run it and try to keep it on track for us and the listening crowd!
For those of you who have been emailing or handing me requests for our upcoming song list update, thank you! You help make our's a better show, too!
